Welcome to the Guided Tour

Hello. My name is Mitch Turner, and I'll be your tour guide. First, a little bit about me. I'm married with 7 daughters (the oldest is 11), and a boy (age 6). My wife Cheryl is a talented "domestic engineer" who manages our household with style, while running our home school. We live in Northern Virginia, in a suburb of Washington, DC.

I've been a computer systems professional for over 17 years, and a Naval Officer for 12 of those years. These days I'm teaching web development at a college, and doing some work as a Web Developer and Internet Consultant.

While doing research to consider what our family needed to do to prudently prepare for the Year 2000 and any other unexpected calamities, I ran into Dennis Elenburg's (the Y2k Weatherman) simple 3-Step Preparedness Plan that includes the following:
